Tofu, Pumpkin Muffins, and New PJ's.

Today, Tesla and I went to Stroller Strides in Derry. We go to Stroller Strides 3-4 times a week. It's a workout class in which you combine cardio with strength training and your stroller. So the kids get to play with each other, mom's get a good work out and some much needed. In today's class, we also had the bonus of having the kids in their costumes. It was adorable. Tomorrow in the Salem class we're doing the same thing so I'll post some pics of them from that class. In tomorrow's class a reporter is coming to take pictures of us working out with the kids. Should be fun!

Tonight we had grilled tofu for the first time. We're going to start working it into our diet. We think it's good to have a little variety and since I don't eat seafood, tofu it is. I also made pumpkin muffins that are delicious. We'll save most of them for Tesla's play group tomorrow.

Tesla is really enjoying standing with assistance. She's started to move her feet to walk while we hold her hands too. It's interesting how all of a sudden it clicks with them. After her bath tonight, Jason put her in some pajamas that her cousin Jake got her. We think she looks adorable and just had to post her picture. Jason doesn't look half bad either!

A little video of T. For those who can't get enough!

Hand Me Downs and Sad News

We recently went over to our friends Alex and Nicole's house. They just had a new baby boy, Zach, and we just loved meeting him. He's such a cutie. With the addition of Zach, Alex and Nicole now have three kids, two girls and a boy. Sabine, 5 1/2, Charlie, 18 months and Zach. Since their latest addition is a boy they were anxious to pass on their girl clothes. (I think Nicole's mom was the most anxious since I believe the clothes were being stored in her bedroom.) We walked away from their house on Saturday with two huge bags of clothes for Tesla. Now Tesla has more than enough clothes and shoes to last her through the winter unless there's a massive growth spurt. It's fun, once you get over your own taste in clothes to just have a bunch of clothes you didn't pick out to wear. The dress she's pictured in is one that was handed down and I looked at it and could not figure out what the makers were thinking. The combination of courderoy, denim, felt, and fleece made this dress quite the oddity. However, I would say, on it's quite cute. I love the tights too. They are much thicker so in the winter they'll keep her little legs warm when she wears all the new dresses. We're incredibly grateful for all of the clothes and shoes we received. We won't deny that times are tough, but at least our little girl has adorable clothes to make us laugh.

On the way home from Alex's we got an email from our friend Marykay. She let us know of the passing of our mutual friends daughter. Chris is a fraternity brother of Jason's, and his daughter Alexis Paige who was only 18 months passed away on Friday night. We're very sad for the Pegher's. It's really heart breaking to hear of something like this happening to anyone, but as a mother of a beautiful little girl it's very scary. Our hearts and thoughts go out to the Pegher's at this difficult time. Since we heard I check on Tesla all the time when she's sleeping and to be honest is what really inspired me to start blogging.

Start of Blog

My daughter Tesla is almost 9 months old. It's hard to believe so much time has gone by and how normal I feel now. When she was first born everything was so new, doing simple tasks was difficult. I remember when she was first born people would say it get's easier, don't worry it does and I would think, yeah right, when?! When is it going to get easier. But it has. We've settled into a nice little life and Tesla is such a delightful little girl.

I'm starting this blog to record some thoughts, and to allow my family that lives so far away to feel a bit more connected to our day to day lives. They would probably feel that way if they would just join facebook, geez! I would also like to have a little bit more record of this precious time in our lives. Jason, unfortunately is not working right now, but fortunately it means we get to spend a lot of time together. It's made us stronger as a couple and a family. I love that he's home to hang out with us. I love that he gets to spend so much time with our little girl, as stressful as not having a job is, it's really very special that he has been able to spend so much time with Tesla. Not all dad's get that pleasure.

Well Jason just got home from a fun night at Bill's so I'm gong to spend some time with him. Not a long post for now, but at least I got it started!
